Get Out Of the Boat!

2013-05-25 15.32.322013-05-25 12.26.27The day started with lots and lots of rain. I had no idea the city was under  a flood watch as I sat on the highway in my car and watched fire trucks drive by, pulling rescue boats. In what normally took about 20 minutes, took an hour and a half to get from my home to downtown San Antonio.
Finally getting there safely, I completed the task of getting the bride and her sister ready for the big day. After leaving them, I stepped on to an elevator when a stranger asked if I did hair and makeup. She waited expectantly for my answer, in which I replied, yes. She requested I go to their room and do her friends hair when I explained that I was really not feeling well (due to the stress of driving through a flood, having been rained on and having the start of a headache). She was not accepting my rejection and explained that her friend was “getting married today”.  I took one look at that poor woman’s hair and exclaimed, “I guess the Lord’s answered your prayers, because I can’t let you get married like that!” Their mouths dropped and they said they had been praying and then we all realized with a new-found excitement that this was indeed a divine appointment by God himself and how amazing that He cares about something as small as one of his daughters having her hair the way she wants it on her wedding day!
Despite all the excitement, the bride was nervous having a complete stranger do her hair as it did not turn out when the other stranger had done it before me. She asked if I was sure I knew what I was doing, in which I replied, “Let’s pray”. She began to pray out loud and with her eyes really big she looked at me and said, “Girl, I had a vision. I saw your business in a building and you were teaching other girls. You need to get out of the boat and not be afraid”. Now, this woman knew nothing about my life or the fact that I had been working from home and praying for the last year on when would be the right time to take the step of getting a storefront. Her words put me into quite the emotional state and I was bawling! I knew without a doubt it was the Lord speaking to me through her, making it very clear that the time was now!
Everything turned out just the way she wanted and before I was done others were requesting my services. When it was time for me to leave about 8 of them gathered in a circle, holding hands, praying for me, my business, and my daughters. I was beyond moved once again and left that room with tears were streaming down my face.
The second detail of this amazing day is that while I was in that hotel room, a woman named Roseanne called and left a message to see if I were hiring for a hair and makeup artist. She came in the next week for an interview and I asked what she thought about doing eyelash extensions (which is the nature of business i was doing from home). She loved the idea and began training the next week.
Within a few short weeks, after seeing a few spaces and praying that the Lord would make it easy and clear, I finally found our place and knew immediately when i walked through the door. The lease agreement was already handed over to someone else that hadn’t turned it in and the realtor said he felt we would be a better fit for the center. After our meeting that day he called to tell us a salon in the center was not accepting of us moving in there, fearing we would be competing with them. We agreed to meet the owners of the salon the next day to discuss our side in which one replied that he didn’t feel his wife would be changing her mind and that he wished us well in life. Ileft that meeting knowing that if God wanted us there, he would make a way! The very next morning, we received a text saying we were all set to come pick up our keys! This was even more confirmation that God was in it!
For all who are reading this sweet story I pray you will trust that He has an amazing plan for your life and that with Him, anything is possible. I pray you hear his voice when He is speaking. I believe what he has done for me, he wants to do for all his children, and that is knowing the desires of our hearts and making a way for our dreams to come true!

The Gift Is In The Giving

We often pray for the Lord to use us, not knowing what that will consist of, while others pray for Him to put someone in thier path that can help them.
Today I had the oppurtunity to be connected to a woman that prayed for help after reading the post of a dear friend asking for donations for a single mother of three that had recently regained custody of her children and needed help with getting back on her feet.
The woman called me and after talking for a few minutes, I realized she was someone I used to work with and had often wondered what had ever happened to her. We discussed what the immediate needs were and I decided what way I could be of help and we hung up. I prayed and asked the Lord if I had done the right thing. Afterall, other people’s problems are not necessarily my problems and having two daughters of my own to provide for is quite expensive. The Lord answered pretty quickly through a conversation I had with my dad in the moments following. Before he and I got of the phone he mentioned how unhappy he was with his phone and the service he was getting and may be getting a new line. I was about to cancel a second line and was burdened with the thought of having to throw away money on the fees to do so when he offered take it over and pay for the line! The amount of the cancellation fee and the help I was to give her were EXACT.

I believe there are oppurtunities all around us everyday if we will take the focus off of ourselves and look around. I’m so glad I took the time today and I encourage you to do the same!

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

James Brown

A friend of mine told of how her marraige in its beginning stages was quite the wreck. Her husband suffered from alcohol and drug abuse and after being gone for 3 days at a time, she was DONE. As she packed her things and was headed out the door, her husband was making his way up the walk with tears in his eyes and pleaded with her not to leave but to listen to what he was about to say.

He told her of how in previous months, a gentlemen by the name of James Brown had applied for a job, and her husband being atheist, turned him down because Mr. Brown was also a pastor. He told of how he had just spent three days on a drinking binge at the beach and knew it would be the end of thier marraige and how he went straight to work instead of home and James Brown was sitting in his office when he arrived and had been there for hours waiting for him. James told him that the Lord wanted him to know that that would be the day of his salvation and after ministering to him for a period of 8 hours, her husband gave his life to the Lord.

As my friend listened to her husband pour his heart out of what had just taken place, she couldnt help but to be skeptical that perhaps this was a ploy to try and get her to not leave, but she knew there was something very different about him. She could see it in his eyes and could feel it in her spirit. She decided to stay.

Soon after James Brown invited them to a church service and she thought it very strange that she and her husband were the only two attendants that day. He then drove them by his house, wanting them to see where he lived. He left a good bye letter and wished them well.

Growing more and more suspicious as to why this man would care so much about complete strangers, she started digging. She went by the church to inquire of James Brown, only to discover there was nobody by that name on staff. They went by his home, only to be told there was not a James Brown living there. Could this have been an angel?

In the mean time a flame had been ignited in her husband and he began to hold bible studies in thier home. She couldn’t believe the miracles, signs and wonders that were taking place and it got to the point there would literally be a line of people waiting to get inside. A boy who was “crumpled” in a wheelchair was brought in by his parents and she felt nervous and even a little scared that they would be disappointed, but the opposite happened. After her husband prayed for the boy his limbs began to straighten out and he got out of his wheelchair as his mother fell to the floor laughing and crying at the sight of her son running!

It is amazing what can happen when we open ourselves up to God and get out of the way and just believe! This mans life was dramatically changed by saying yes to God, as well as many others who experienced the healing miracles and were witnesses to them. Imagine if he wouldnt have listened to James Brown and all he would’ve missed out on! Not to mention the boy who may not have ever made it out of the wheel chair.

I believe James Brown was sent by God to unlock the gifts inside her husband. When God has a plan for our life, He will draw the line in the sand and call us back to him when we have gone too far. It is up to us to heed the call and obey! Is there a James Brown in your life? I encourage you to pay close attention and not miss out on your blessings and destiny!

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, Jesus told him, you will never believe. John 4:48

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12

Three Visitors

Recently a friend of mine asked me to call and pray for her mom who had been experiencing alot of opposition within her family and was leaving that day to visit her sons in another city. As she was dealing with helping the issues of her sons, her brother had become angry and was threatening to end their relationship. With a heavy heart she traveled to Abilene, Tx.  As she was helping her son, she heard a knock on the door and voices in the hallway. Three strangers had come to see if anyone in the home was needing prayer. She walked out of the room and said that in fact, she did. One of the visitors explained how they were in the area and had a strong sense that a woman in the home was needing prayer. She let her daughter know what had happened who then text her niece, the daughter of the brother who was angry with her. Her niece explained that the very same morning in New York as she was in the subway, three strangers asked if anyone needed prayer and she requested that they pray for her family in Texas who was going through a difficult time.

This story is an example of how God HEARS our prayers and the cries of our heart. He CARES about the details of our lives and sends help in our most desperate times! It is no coincedence that in two seperate states on the same day, God sent His prayer warriors to help these two individuals from the same family.

For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them. Matthew 18:20

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Psalm 46:1-11

For He shall give His angels charge over you to, to keep you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11

God Is Our Healer!

I met a friend and her sweet dog Duke a couple days ago and she was concerned that he hadn’t been feeling well.  She took him to the vet and reported later that he had a mass the size of a tennis ball near his stomach and had no more than two weeks to live without having surgery. Two friends and I prayed in agreement for Duke that the mass would supernaturally dissolve and he wouldn’t need surgery afterall and would be restored to complete health. Two days later Duke is home after the vet ran tests and discovered the mass was gone and was “stumped” as it was “there one minute and gone the next.” He is taking medication and was placed on a new diet. God is so sweet and cares even for our pets! I am still in complete awe of God’s mercy, grace and love. He truly is our healer!

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17-18

For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds, saith the Lord.”
Jeremiah 30:17

Again I say to you that if two of you agree on Earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Matthew 18:19

Thy light shall break forth as the morning, and thy health shall spring forth speedily; and thy righteousness shall go before thee: the glory of the Lord shall be my rear guard.
Isaiah 58:8

Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has commited sins, they shall be forgiven him. James 5:14-15

God Is Our Provider!

The following story captures the very essence of “all things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23).

In March of this year, a single father of three daughters, ranging in ages 10-13, took his car to get worked on, only to be told the part was “impossible” to find for a duration of 7 months. During the 7 months, the family had to completely rely on others for rides. In a big, spread out city like San Antonio, that isn’t always easy. When discussing the situation, the man always acknowledged that God  was not releasing his car to him; but he knew it was for a reason and remained steadfast in his faith that the solution would come.

On an evening in October, I had the joy and priveledge of witnessing the “solution” coming to fruition. A woman that visits our church and was aware of the circumstances of this family had it put on her heart to help. After dinner, she presented the father with a green, shiny gift box. He seemed hesitant and unsure, but she encouraged him with anticipation to open it. Nobody in the room expected what was to come out of that box. He pulled out a title to a suburban, along with keys. The man and his 3 daughters, along with everyone in the room began to cry. It was a beautiful moment for all to see and a reminder, that truly, with God all things are possible!

Everyone ran outside to see the gift waiting for them in the driveway. One of the daughters and her friend stood hugging, both with tears streaming down their faces, overwhelmed with what God had done for the family. Another turned to me and said she had never understood what it meant to cry tears of joy until that moment.

I believe when we keep our eyes focused on the Lord and His promises as this man did, we will have breakthrough and He will provide for all our needs. Our attitude in the midst of our circumstance can affect how long we stay there. The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness in what could have taken 11 days. They chose to complain and didn’t put their trust in the Lord. This man could’ve given up on God and complained about not having a car. He would’ve missed out on his blessing. But instead, he chose to trust.

I pray this story touches those who need a reminder that if we don’t lose heart, God will come through and provide for all our needs!

Not only does he supply, He does it BETTER than we could ever imagine!Image

And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. Galatians 6:9

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus. Phillipians 4:19

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. Prov. 3:5

You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8,9

You Are So Beautiful

This story is so sweet. It’s a perfect example of how the Lord wants to shower us with His affection. I believe when we make Him our FIRST love and depend fully on Him for ALL our emotional needs, we will have more peace and joy in our lives. So many of us put our hope and trust in others who are only capable of so much, leaving us feeling let down and disapponted.

The story begins with a woman who was feeling so much hurt and pain over a recent break up. She was in her car driving to her daughter’s school, crying out to God angrily, asking Him “Why” for all that she was feeling.

Once at school, she kept seeing the same woman in many of the classes throughout the day. At the end, the woman approached her and apologized in advance, for what she was about to say would seem very odd. She said, ” The Lord wanted me to tell you something and I argued with Him about it, saying how strange it would seem, seeing that we have never met, but here you are right next to me again. I don’t know what you are going through, but I know it is painful and the Lord wants me to tell you everything is going to be ok and according to His plan. He also wants me to sing this song to you.. ‘You are so beautiful to me’ ( song by Joe Cocker)…”

She proceeded to sing the entire song. The woman says she just stood there and listened and then went to her car and burst into tears. Now, every time she is going through something, she goes back to that moment and knows everything is going to be ok!

Let’s also remember how BEAUTIFUL we are in His sight and how much He loves us no matter how the world treats us. For he came to this world to love us, only to be rejected, lied about, judged, persecuted, beaten and crucified. He knows and understands our pain because he suffered the same afflictions we do. He gives us BEAUTY for ASHES.

To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. Isaiah 61:3

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10

This vision is so touching, because we have all dealt with self-condemnation at some point in our lives. The woman who was blessed enough to have this vision with Jesus went through a period of alcoholism when her daughters were of middle school age, as she suffered with bi-polar disorder and was unable to get relief from medication. Her daughters are now grown and still hold on to the painful memories of that time in thier lives.

Vision: She is kneeling before Jesus and he is pouring all the sin, bad choices, everything NOT of HIM into a fiery chalis, what comes out of the bottom is pure gold. She asks why, and He replied, ” All for the glory of God”.

Whatever she did, you did, or I did, it is FORGIVEN. We are made PURE by what HE did on the cross. No sin is too big for His sacrifice to cover. Thank you Jesus!

Let’s all imagine this beautiful vision the next time the ACCUSER comes and tries to convince us otherwise.

There is now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  Romans 8:1

Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. Daniel 12:10

Refined- impurities or unwanted elements having been removed by processing.

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God’. Revelation 12:10

Vision of Heaven

I was blessed enough to meet a woman yesterday that had the most amazing experience with the Lord. She had a vision that she was walking with Jesus down a long, narrow corrider with many doors on each side. Jesus turned to her and asked if she was READY for HIM to OPEN this one particular door and she answered YES. As he opened the door a GOLDEN, blinding LIGHT burst through. She saw three chairs with God on the throne and Jesus on the chair to His right in a white robe. She was unable to see what was in the third chair. She fell prostrate on the floor, couldn’t move and was in complete awe; feeling perfectly at peace, with no more hurt or pain.

John 12:2,3 says, “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

From the little bit I gathered, this woman has not had an easy life and suffered many disappointments as we all have. I believe Christ allowed her this experience to show her what was waiting for her after this life and to share with us all to encourage us and give us hope.

“Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald”. Revelation 4:2,3

Cake Maker

A friend and I were having lunch and she began to share all that was wrong in her life. She is the single mother of two, works a day job, a night job and didn’t have the money to pay her mortgage. My head began to spin by all she was saying, I can only imagine how she was feeling. She stated, “I really just want to GET BY”. My spirit leaped and I realized what part of the problem was. Her thinking was all wrong. I began to explain that God doesn’t want us to just “GET BY”. He wants us to live in abundance and not struggle, that if we don’t know the promises He has in store for us and what is stated in the Bible, we are merely walking around BLINDLY and SETTLING for crumbs. Joshua 1:8 states, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success”. I explained if she would apply this book to her life, she would see changes and all that God would do for her. She sat for a moment and then shared that she didn’t own a Bible. I became so excited and thought not to waste another moment and we went to get one right then! As soon as she picked out her bible, she stopped in front of a book shelf that contained books on cake making. She said, “I would give anything to make my cakes again” ( She is a VERY talented cake maker that had to stop due to financial reasons). At that very moment a woman was passing by, heard her and said, “Excuse me, did you say you make cakes? Because I’m actually on my way to look at a bakery I’m going to buy and I need someone to help with making cakes”. I was completely in awe, as was my friend and her eyes began to water. The woman then proceeded to give us her testimony on how God has changed her life for the better and turned her failing marriage around. They exchanged information and we are praying for God’s will to be done in this divine connection. Regardless of what happens, God was CLEARLY showing her that He HEARS the DESIRES of her HEART. She made the decision to SEEK HIM and He IMMEDIATELY acted on her behalf. What God will do for one person, He will do for another! Be encouraged that when we seek Him, He will make a way for us ❤
